Play Sport? Then Here’s How to Find the Right Sunglasses
March 5, 2010 by

Different from casual eyewear, sports sunglasses are practical items that incorporate special technical features. While style is just as important as safety design in regular sunglasses, sports sunglasses have a dominant, undeniable functional side. Although they are designed according to the latest trends such equipment items meet the needs of a user who spends most of the time outdoors. There has to be maximum visibility, full blockage of harmful radiation and protection against debris as the main expectations you can formulate in relation with sports sunglasses. Golf, cycling, extreme sports and even hiking use equipment that involves special sun blocking technologies for eyewear design.
There are even sports sunglasses that combine the casual street style with the extreme sports requirements. Polarized for a perfect anti-glare feature, such items will be comfortable and actually priceless when skiing, snowboarding or enjoying any other sport. Face hugging contours, high precision hinges and self-locking screws, these make the features that you'll only encounter with certain high quality sports sunglasses. For increased durability and resistance to impact, sports sunglasses usually have nylon frames and polycarbonate lenses. Glass is unacceptable from the start because of the breakage risks.
Besides the blockage of the ultraviolets, sports sunglasses could also prevent the contact will all sorts of debris or insects that get in the eyes at high speeds. With the right pair of sports sunglasses squinting against the sun will become a bad memory. Therefore, when and if you shop for sports sunglasses, it is probably a good idea to get some wraparounds because they protect the eyes on the sides as well thanks to the frame design.
Sports sunglasses are available in such a variety of models and designs that it is very difficult to make a choice sometimes. The best place to shop for these items is at an optician shop and not on the Internet. The problem with the online orders is that you cannot try the sports sunglasses before the purchase and there are fair chances that the items will not fit you. Even if you get the right size, the entire physiognomy could be responsible for the mismatch. Maybe they don't look good on you or maybe the design is not suitable for the face, eye and nose shape.

The Tremendous Career Of Albert Pujols
March 3, 2010 by Paul Queenman
Is Albert Pujols the best hitter that we've ever known? That is a question that has been asked hundreds of times, and the debate doesn't look like it's going to go away any time soon.
So that we all know who I'm talking about, I'm not going to go to players from days gone by, only from the 1980 onwards.
Players from the past such as Mays and Williams were great in their day, but the game has changed so much since then comparisons can't really be made. Conditions and even equipment are completely different in the modern game.
As the game has evolved so much, we can't tell how well players from the past would have played today, and vice versa. We can consider Pujols to be the batsman of our times on his merits alone.
His standard of play now is awesome, and the prospect that Pujols could improve even more is mouth watering. Just shy of his 30th birthday, there are seasons ahead for Pujols to keep up his consistent form and establish himself as one of the modern day greats.
Albert Pujols has a career average that is capable of winning a league. His overall average is an amazing .334. His second season brought about the lowest average of .312 and his worst since has been .327.
The least amount of home runs that Pujols has hit during one season is 32. He has played 9 seasons in MLB and in 5 of those hit 40. This young man just keeps raising the bar and creating staggering statistics as he goes.
As every new season starts, we hold our breath to see if Pujols can maintain his stunning form, and he never lets us down. Is he the greatest hitter of our generation? That we can only answer when he finishes playing, but I wouldn't bet against him.

New York Mets Have Every Right To Expect A Fast Start
March 1, 2010 by Jake Kohler

When the season started last year, every expert in the game had the New York Mets giving the Phillies everything that they could handle. Even though the Phillies were the champs, they were still not picked to beat out the Mets for the division. Then the season started, Philly got off to a hot start and never looked back.
It is very likely that everyone will have the Mets, Phillies and Atlanta very close in the National League East. This will be a hotly contested division and if the Mets are playing solid baseball, they have every reason to believe that the division will be theirs. The fans are going to be treated to some incredible baseball games this summer.
The Phillies stole a lot of headlines this summer with their blockbuster trade. While the Mets did not make moves like that, they did shore up some weaknesses to pad what is a very good team at the core. Santana is the star of the rotation and gives this team a huge chance to win when he is on the mound. He will go deep into every game and put them in a position to win if the offense can score just a few runs.
Fernando Nieve is going to get his shot this year and fans have every right to be excited about him. He has the talent to one day be an Ace and should rack up some serious wins in the bottom half of the rotation. If he is healthy and pitches to his potential, there should be at least 15 wins in the season for him.
David Wright continues to be the big draw for this team and you pretty much know what you are going to get from him every season. His home runs dipped last season for the first time ever, but he surely worked on getting the power back in his stroke during the off-season. He is the best pure hitter on the team and the offense will live and die with him.
The Mets have a great schedule to start the season. They are loaded up with many of the doormats of the league and if there are firing on all cylinders, they could come out of April with a nice little lead in the East. They play all but seven of their April games in their own house and that is something that they will have to take advantage of.
Philadelphia will be the first real test of the season for the Mets and that is not until the very last game of April. They need to use the home schedule to their benefit and build up a big lead to let Philly know that they are back and mean business in 2010.

Tampa Bay Rays Are Ready To Taste Champagne Again
March 1, 2010 by Jake Kohler

Imagine being on a baseball team that has to know that every day they go out there they are in competition with two of the best teams in baseball: the Red Sox and the Yankees. While some teams will run and hide, the Rays take this challenge head on because they know that it makes them a better team. While they did finish 19 games back last season, it was more about the quality of the division than it was their play.
Tampa Bay is only two years removed from playing for the World Series title and they still have a large core of that group together on this team. Last year was an up and down season, but this team should not be counted out. If they were in any other division, they would be one of the favorites, but in the East, it takes perfect baseball to get the banner hung.
Whatever you do Rays fans, don't let the division placement get you down. This is a legitimate team that had some bad breaks last season and is hardly out of the race for the crown in 2010. The pitching rotation features a lot of talent that is headed by young superstar Jeff Niemann. There was surely no sophomore slump for this 13 game winner.
Something else to be very excited about is the fact that the ball will fall into the hands of Soriano in the ninth inning. He came up through the Seattle farm system when they were stacked with pitching talent and recently strutted his stuff with the Braves. His first season as a closer was a huge success and it is actually amazing that the Braves let him get away.
Soriano got his first taste as a closer last season and notched 27 out of 31 save opportunities. He has always had special stuff, but it was really apparent last season as he totally embraced the new role. Tampa Bay is very lucky to have been able to get him off of Atlanta and he will account for some extra wins this season.
The offense is looking sexy this season and Longoria is heading it up. From the very first moment that he took the field he was tagged as superstar. While some young players would shy away from the role, he has embraced it and become a true leader of this franchise. This is his third season of what will surely be a very long and esteemed career in Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay fans are going to be treated to some incredible baseball in 2010. The division is stacked with talent and that means that most of the season the best teams in baseball will be coming to town. While it will be anything but an easy season, victories will be well earned and if they do get to the WS, they will be primed and will have already taken down the best teams in baseball.

It Is Time For The Chicago White Sox To Step Up
February 27, 2010 by Heather Maxwell

The Chicago White Sox come into 2010 with a lot of hope and there is no reason for them not to make the playoffs. This is a solid team that is playing in the weakest division in the American League and it is time that they take advantage of that and get back into post season play. Their sub-.500 season of 2009 did now sit well with anyone and they are out to get some glory this season.
If anyone wants to know what the driving force of the big turnaround is going to be, look no further than the late season acquisition of Jake Peavy. Spending the early part of his career in San Diego Hell, he is now on a team with a legitimate shot at going all the way. While fans only saw him for three games last season, they get the full deal this year.
Peavy managed to win 92 wins over 8 seasons with a team that was usually very bad. He carried that team for years and will now have the benefit of a solid supporting cast. If he can post 19 wins with the Padres, what can be expected of him on this team? Judging by his 3-0 record in the American League, we can expect the world!
Many people do not realize that players will sometimes get a huge boost when they go to a new team. Peavy is in Chicago to win, make no mistake about that. If he is not a contender for the Cy Young in 2010, it would be a surprise to everyone. American League hitters lives just got a bit more difficult.
Now while Peavy is great, the number two starter is a guy by the name of Buehrle. You may remember him from that little ole' perfect game that he threw last season. This is an absolute nightmare for any team in the division that is going to see these two guys on a regular basis. How can you possibly match up with this combo?
The early part of the schedule is going to provide Chicago with a chance at a very fast start. While Minnesota won the division last year, they are hardly in the same class as Chicago when they are healthy. Add three more games against Cleveland a 6-0 start is very achievable. Even more important for ticket holders is that they will get to see Peavy twice in that early span of games.
2009 is over my friends and 2010 looks like it is going to bring a lot of joy in White Sox land. Two stud starters and a lineup that is going to score some runs. If I'm in Chicago, I am already in line to get tickets because this season promises to be one for the ages.

The Pressure And Fond Memories Of A Youth Baseball Tournament
When a young baseball or softball team finishes out the season, they usually will enter into a youth baseball tournament. For younger players, usually every team competes in the tournament, rather than only selecting the teams that did best during the regular season. During the tournament, many exciting things may happen.
Usually a tournament begins with every team of the same age group playing one another. The winners of those games then play each other, and the tournament continues until only two teams are left. These two teams then compete in the championship.
With baseball tournaments, youth boys and girls learn firsthand what it is like to have to perform under pressure. They likely feel many emotions surrounding the final game (or any games leading up to it), including excitement and fear. These emotions can help children to learn life skills, but the pressure may be traumatic for some children. This is especially so for children who are not the best players. The tournament can thus have the potential to either be a great or terrible experience for children.
Those who have competed and placed in these tournaments generally look back on the games with fond memories. They might still proudly display their trophy, and may talk about different aspects of the game years later. The winning team is usually prouder, but the second place team may still be happy with the result, especially if they played an extremely tough team.
Of course, at a youth baseball tournament one can enjoy many of the exciting things enjoyed at regular baseball games. Hot dogs, nachos, candy, and soda can be enjoyed. The smell of freshly cut grass and dirt can bring old players nostalgia. And sound of the parents chatting or arguing is almost a constant.
Children can really feel that they are accomplishing something in a baseball tournament, which can give them self confidence. The championship games can help them learn how to deal with pressure, and if successful, how to perform under stress. However, some children may feel too much pressure, and may feel guilt if they do not perform perfectly.

Wrigley Field – A Name Etched In History

Wrigley field is a popular name not only as a baseball stadium but also as a monument in the history of baseball through a series of record-breaking events associated with it.
It is situated in Chicago in the state of Illinois United States and has been home to the Chicago Cubs baseball team since 1916, along with serving the National Football League's Chicago bears from 1921- 1971.
Charlie Weegham, who wanted to house his baseball team, the Chicago federals, decided to give them a permanent base by building Wrigley Park in 1914.
Chronicles - History of Wrigley field An amount of $250,000 was invested in the erection of this 'monument' in the year 1914, designed by architect Zachary Taylor, who streamlined all the fire-safety measures in law at that time.
Wrigley Field - history in the making Wrigley field was build for $250,000 by architect Zachary Taylor, to be a tell-tale of history. The construction was cemented with all fire-safety measures, as was required by law during that time.
A year after its erection in 1915 Charles Wegham's syndicate of business tycoons such as Wrigley Jr. helped him take a hold on the Chicago Cubs from Charles P Taft. Much later in 1919 Wrigley took a major share in the syndicate holding, and the park's present name goes to represent Wrigley Jr, since 1926.
After a series of 5,687 games played only during daytime, August 1988 witnessed the first night game between the Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies.
When History Stood Still In Wrigley Wrigley's coverage was not just a boastful show, but real-time hard-code moments of victory, inscribed on the sands of time, with the 1917 clash between Jim Vaughn (Hippo) and Fred Tony of the Cincinnati Reds, followed by the 1938 September nail-biting finish when the famous Gaby Garnette of the Cubs, struck a homer off Mace Brown (Pittsburgh Pirates), to win, just when the match was about to be declared to later continuation. Not to mention, Wriggley also witnessed the record-breaking feats of Ernie banks hitting his 500th homer and Peter Rose for his 4191st hit.
Wrigley's sensational 'boundaries' to highlight a few: Wrigley field compared to other ballparks is most sensitive to wind conditions, and is quite a sight during the summer with beautiful ivy vines on its outfield walls. The famous "Bleacher Bums" were formed here in 1966 by 10 fans. There many more historical moments that just marks this "monument" with its history, though a point to highlight is that Wrigley has never witnessed the Cubs winning any world championship on its grounds.

Baseball Players On The Rise in November

A fast peek at the universe of Baseball cards in the past two months shows several appealing players escalating up the charts in the baseball card universe. America's pastime may be on a winter break, but true baseball card collector's never rest. Bear in mind that we don't create the prices. We simply state them. Having said that, here are a seven players whose card values have risen during November as reported by THE expert on sports cards in this world, Beckett Publications.
-David Robertson, this 24 year old right hander from a pitching wealthy Crimson Tide baseball program appears to be a crucial player in the New York Yankees bullpen this spring. As with any Yankee rookie, Yankee thrower, or Yankee in general. Prices will increase with the slightest mention of potential
-Josh Hamilton, long underappreciated, the slugging Ranger was the feel good story of the year of few years ago. However, he plays in one of the most horrible markets in baseball (not to rob the Florida Marlins thunder). In spite of this, some must be taking note of the fact that he is well again. It would probably be a good idea for you to take note of that also. When this kid is in good physical shape, there are very few superior hitters than him. BUY BUY BUY!
-Fu-Te Ni, yep, you read that right, Fu-Te Ni The Tigers Right hander appeared in 30+ games last year and was simply about the ONLY shining star in the last month of the season for the wavering Tigers. His ERA of 2.34 and .187 batting average against shows that he can get it done in the majors.
SPECIAL NOTE: For those of you that love to buy cards, stow them for a little, and sell them when a player gets hot to make a profit, start buying Fu-Te Ni cards. Why? Because history repeats itself! Asian celebrity pitchers historically come to America and mow down American hitters for one, and rarely, two seasons. That is usually followed by some value time in mid relief and filling out the hind end of a rotation. See also, Byun Yung Kim, Hideki Irabu, Hideo Nomo, Chan Ho Park, and soon to follow Dice K. The past REPEATS ITSELF! (so buy now, and put up for sale in about a year) Where else can you get a 50-75% Return on Investment in 9 months?
-Cheng-Min Peng, four consecutive batting championships in the Chinese Professional Baseball Leagues. He holds the all time record in Chinese Professional Baseball for batting average in a season with a .391 average. Expect Peng to jump across the pond in the extremely near future. Until then, you'll have to be happy with his World Baseball Classic cards
-David Price, he burst on to the seen, number one pick, big potential and a brief example of his abilities in a half dozen games back in 2008. 2009, many don't realize, was a extremely quality year for him as well. STAT OF THE DAY...GET READY FOR IT.....David Price was 10-7 in 2009. In the 7 games he lost, his run support was terrible, with his teammates providing an mean of two runs per game in those seven losses. Furthermore, in five of those losses, he pitched his team into the sixth inning. Give the guy a few RUNS already! Thank goodness collectors see his importance!
-Travis Snider, the former first round pick of the Blue Jays is a flat out stud. His numbers in the majors have improved as he gets more opportunities. Snider's future has been carefully groomed as the Blue Jays brought him along gradually to facilitate his transition to the Big Show. He was a monster at triple A Las Vegas hitting one home run every 12 at bats. Hit in the mid .300's while at Vegas and absolutely crushed lefties with a .400 BA against.
As earlier acknowledged, we don't make the prices, we just convey them. So, here they are! Six players that improved in worth according to Beckett Media during the month of November.

At 6 foot 3 inches and 205 lbs, high-school baseball player Bryce Harper is by no means small. However, this does not keep young future baseball starts from admiring him. “He is very inspirational,” says one Little Leaguer, “he makes me feel like I can do impossible things." When looking at this, why does this child look up to him? Right now, Bryce Harper will be the number one draft pick in the 2010 Major league Baseball Draft by the Washington Nationals and be part of the select few who will play professional baseball at the age of 17.
The baseball player bryce harper has done many achievements
There is much more this young man can do; Bryce Harper is already hitting home runs that are setting records. A 502 foot home run was hit by Bryce Harper at the International Power Showcase that promotes the top baseball prospects, Bryce being the top. Bryce got an the cover of Sports Illustrated for hitting an 570 foot home run and being a great role model. Harper is becoming quite popular with middle and high-school students, even gaining support from some parents of young baseball players. This support is despite Harper’s decision to drop out of high school two years early, in order to train for the 2010 baseball season. The Major League Baseball rules state that every baseball player needs to have a GED or high school diploma, Bryce Harper received his in the summer of 2009.
The baseball bat of Bryce Harper started at the age of three. All over the country, Little League teams were offering to pay for his airfare and hotel, for him to play for them and that was at the age of eight. The people who knew Bryce from his childhood, knew he was going to accomplish the impossible. Harper’s natural skill with the sport of baseball is undoubtedly incredible, and could be called a “once in a generation” genetic lottery.
In addition to being a role model based on skills alone, Bryce Harper also possesses a determination and dedication to the sport of baseball that should be admired even by veteran players. The perseverance of Harper's heart is that of old-school baseball players; he wants to do his best and play to win. Bryce Harper's parents did not do any excessive pushing of baseball with their son at a young age. The unwavering father of Bryce, Ron, demands this.
“We have to do what’s best for Bryce. He just wants to play baseball. Bryce Always has. We need to do what is best for Bryce and his future; that is the number one thing that is guiding us.”
It could be said that a lot of Bryce Harper’s admirable characteristics come from his supportive family. Bryce's family has given a support system that is second to none because everyone needs a strong support system. There are a lot of activities that Bryce Harper does outside of baseball such as snowboard, play football and do other activities any kid his age does. His parents still think he is a normal kid even though he discontinued playing football. Bryce Harper has everything a strong future role model needs such as an amazing gift at baseball, untouchable achievements and determined attitude.
